Halifax’s musical past, from Dreams to Despair

Halifax Camerata Singers and Rhapsody Quintet join together for a concert commemorating 1917, the year the Imo and the Mont Blanc collided in Halifax Harbour with an explosion that changed the city forever.

 

Nutcracker Dreams

Hannah Mae Cruddas was five or six when she first saw The Nutcracker at the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium in Halifax. She dreamed of dancing the role of Clara and was inspired to pursue a career as a professional dancer. Now, the 23-year-old Dartmouth native is a member of Canada’s Ballet Jörgen and returns home to make her childhood dreams come true.

 

Postcard from Chile

It was likely Victor’s first birthday party — even though he was turning 13. He certainly hadn’t had a cake before and the fact he was sharing his party with his one-year-old niece, Isadora, and our team of Habitat for Humanity volunteers added to the excitement of the sunny day in Quintay, Chile.
